Sod peat

Sod peat
Heat of combustion (calorie content) 2900-3000ccal/kg;
Ashes — up to 15%;
Amount of small pieces of wood (less then 25mm) — up to 10%.

Quality characteristic of sod peat is calorific value. Usually it is between 2900-3400 ccal/kg (12,8 MJ), that is not much less then of peat briquettes 3800-4200 ccal/kg (17 MJ), but much more than of wood 1900-2200 ccal/kg (8,4 Mj). All these means that to get an equal volume of heat one will spare 1,5 times more wood than sod peat.
Another type of quality characteristic of sod peat is ash content. While burning of peat briquettes, depending on the variety, the level of ash is usually between 15-23%, and after sod peat the level of ash is under 15%. This is an essential fact to give preference to sod peat to compare with other fuels.
